6th ANNUAL PRSA CLEVELAND ROCKS AWARDS LUNCHEON ROCKS THE HOUSE SHOWCASING THE BEST IN AREA PUBLIC RELATIONS
Falls Communications Shines with 18 Awards, Including “Best of Show”
CLEVELAND, Dec. 5, 2008 – The Greater Cleveland Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) plugged the area’s marketing and communications professionals in to the best of public relations as it hosted the PRSA Cleveland Rocks Awards today. Breaking last year’s record of 158 entries, this year’s competition showcased 167 entries representing agencies, companies and associations. Sixty-five of the entries received an award, approximately 58 percent of them gold.
“This event celebrates the incredible talent we have right here in Northeast Ohio,” said Brad Kostka president of the PRSA Greater Cleveland Chapter. “Each year this event continues to grow, and our award recipients are to be commended for their creative and strategic approaches that set them apart as the best in the industry.”
Cleveland’s Falls Communications was the big winner, with 18 total awards, including 10 gold, eight silver and the coveted “Best of Show” award. Its role in the marketing communications campaign for Moen Incorporated’s Moen Biomimicry allowed it to walk away with the top award.
Roop & Co, also based in Cleveland, took home the “Judges’ Choice Award” for its media relations campaign, “Uncorking a New Wine Bar – 87 West 2” for Gamekeeper’s Hospitality.
In second place, with 17 total awards, was Liggett Stashower, also based in Cleveland.
In addition to recognizing the region’s outstanding marketing and communications efforts, the PRSA Cleveland Rocks Awards also serve as a year-end fundraiser. A silent auction was part of the awards ceremony with top prizes including tickets to upcoming Indians’ games and Cleveland Orchestra performances. Proceeds from the event are used to fund scholarships for area college students studying communications or public relations.
Judges for the 2008 competition were selected from the PRSA Rochester chapter to ensure unbiased results.
