2/13/2009

CLEVELAND – Blogging -- you’ve heard about it, you should be familiar with it, but you just haven’t had the time to learn about the benefits. The Journalism and Mass Communication department at Cuyahoga Community College may have a solution for you.

Jimi Izrael, an award-winning journalist and culture-critic from East Cleveland, has joined the Journalism and Mass Communication faculty at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) Western Campus this Spring Semester. He will be teaching Intro to Blogging during the College’s second 8-Week Session which runs March 21 through May 13. Cost for the class is only $241.62. Call 1-800-954-8742 or visit www.tri-c.edu for more information or to register.

Journalists, public relations specialists and communications professionals are invited to a special preview of a new blogging course at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) Western Campus Wednesday, February 18, 1:30 p.m. in WSS G04-A, located at Tri-C West, 11000 Pleasant Valley Road in Parma.

Known as progenitor of “the hip-hop opinion,” and his credo “it’s hard but it’s fair,” Izrael is a sought-after pundit appearing on talk radio and television news panels both nationally and internationally, including Fox's Hannity and Colmes, The O'Reilly Factor, The Larry Elder Show, and XM Radio. He’s a regular voice on various shows on National Public Radio, including Day to Day, News and Notes, Talk of the Nation and WHYY’s Radio Times.

Izrael currently moderates “The Barbershop” for National Public Radio’s Tell Me More with Michel Martin, blogs “The Hardline” for the Washington Post’s The Root.com and blogs “Primary Colors” for TV One Online. His personal blog is available at www.jimiizrael.com.

His work also appears in the Los Angeles Times, Salon.com, USA Today, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Chicago Tribune, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The American Spectator, The Plain Dealer, The Milwaukee Sentinel and many other newspapers and popular media.

Media blog Gawker named Izrael a “talking head to watch.” He has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Cleveland State University and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Spalding University.
