Cleveland PRSA wins award for healthcare PR event

CLEVELAND, August 3, 2009 – The Greater Cleveland Chapter of PRSA has won a District Chapter Excellence Award for its efforts in promoting the public relations profession through its work on the 2008 ClevelandPlus Healthcare Communicator’s Summit.

The 2008 ClevelandPlus Healthcare Communicators’ Summit was a meeting of communications professionals from across the healthcare field to discuss their efforts and brainstorm how to better shape perceptions of Northeast Ohio as a healthcare industry powerhouse.

“The Greater Cleveland Chapter is very pleased to be recognized for its chapter outreach efforts. This award acknowledges our work organizing and supporting the 2008 ClevelandPlus Healthcare Communicator’s Summit, an important event of which we are especially proud,” said Richard Batyko, who is chapter president, as well as vice president, regional marketing, Greater Cleveland Partnership.

The District Chapter Excellence Award recognizes large and small PRSA chapters for best practices in management, membership development, professional development and other areas. The award is presented by the East Central District of PRSA, which covers Ohio and its five neighboring states. The Greater Cleveland Chapter will receive the award at the 2009 Quick Start Conference, October 3, in Columbus, Ohio.

Public Relations Society of America- Chartered in 1947, the Public Relations Society of America is the world’s largest organization for public relations professionals. Its nearly 20,000 members, organized into 117 chapters, represent business and industry, technology, counseling firms, government, associations, hospitals, schools, professional services firms and non-profit organizations. PRSA’s primary objectives are to advance the standards of the public relations profession and to provide members with professional development opportunities.

The Greater Cleveland Chapter of PRSA serves the needs of public relations professionals in Northeast Ohio. Affiliated with the East Central District of PRSA, the chapter consists of approximately 300 members.
